On 21 of may at the Shanghai Summit of the conference on interaction and confidence building measures in Asia. Vladimir Putin took part in the Summit along with other heads of state of participating countries CICA.
The conference on interaction and confidence building measures in Asia was established in 1992 as a dialog forum for the discussion of issues in the region and issues of cooperation of the participating countries.
In the composition of the CICA are 24 States. Observers are 9 countries and 4 international organizations. The heads of state of participating countries CICA hold a Summit every 4 years.
The Speech Of Vladimir Putin
In the beginning of his speech the President of Russia Vladimir Putin thanked the Turkish chairmanship for the organization of work on developing practical cooperation within the CICA, the Chairman of the DPRK XI Jinping for the organization of the summit, the hospitality and warmth.
Vladimir Putin suggested that Russia "has consistently advocated the establishment in Asia and in the broader geopolitical context in the Asia-Pacific region, the system of international relations".
This system is designed to provide opportunities for expanding and strengthening trade and economic relations, investment cooperation, prevent the emergence of threats to the security of the participating countries. The President stressed that the region needs a security architecture that guarantees equal interaction, harmony of interests and a genuine balance of power.
Vladimir Putin noted that in the framework of such meetings in the country have the opportunity to work together to solve the acute problems of the Asian region, which still remain sources of tension. Not diminishing the risk of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, religious extremism, terrorism, piracy, cross-border crime – those crimes that are a threat to the entire international community.
Do not forget the President of Russia to note the existing problems in Syria, with which it is necessary to struggle joint efforts. Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of the fact that the meeting has entered the stage of "practical steps". In particular: increase engagement with various international organisations.
In the framework of his official visit to China, Vladimir Putin managed to achieve much: we signed a large package of documents between the two countries. Areas covered by these documents vary from industry to oil and gas industry.
