25 of February. The consumption of black tea has a positive effect on health and strengthens bone system of the person - to such conclusion the Japanese scientists from Osaka University.

Scientists have found that one of polyphenols (TF3), a constituent of black tea, has a therapeutic effect in osteoporosis – a disease that is characterized by a decrease in bone density.

Scientists conducted experiments on mice. During the experiment, the circulatory system disease of the bones of mice was introduced as a concentrated solution containing the polyphenol. After a few days, the researchers observed the improvement of rodents. The number of osteoclast – cells that destroy bone tissue decreased, the skeleton gradually became stronger. During the experiment, rodents were given a dose TF3, comparable in concentration with 20 cups of strong tea a day.

Professor of immunology at the University of Osaka Keizo Nishikawa believes that "if we accept TF3 as a dietary Supplement, combining it with the consumption of food rich in calcium, can significantly reduce the risk of osteoporosis and other bone diseases".

The Ministry of health, labour and welfare of Japan has published data that about 10 million people in Japan in varying degrees, have problems with the skeletal system (mainly the elderly).

A study of the effect of black tea on bone system of the body involved not only the Japanese. Last year scientists from China, studying this question, also came to the conclusion that people who drink 1-2 cups of tea a day decreases by 28% the risk of fractures. However, scientists are unable to identify the source of medicinal properties.
