19 of June. In Moscow, was opened 36-th Moscow international film festival (MIFF).
The festival began with a performance of Vladimir Medinsky (Minister of culture), who delivered a message from the President. The message says that "In the TV studios and the cinemas where new ideas and concepts, discusses trends in the development of modern cinema."
Medina thanked the creators of this film festival, "Mikhalkov", which makes every festival colourful and special. In confirmation of his words, Medina led the opening film of the festival "Red Army" on Soviet hockey team.
After the opening speech, appeared on the scene, the actors Andrei Merzlikin and Olga Kabo. They recalled that this year the University celebrates 95 years. He graduated from this University almost all Soviet and Russian filmmakers.
Mikhalkov told journalists that the sanctions affected the festival. "It would be strange if all of Russia sanctions impact, and the film no." He explained that because of the sanctions, many were afraid to come. Mikhalkov said that "maybe it is and well, the phrase "sanctions against Russia" are rather the passion".
The films included in the main program of the festival
In the main competition of MIFF 2014 will bring together 16 films. Russia will be represented by ribbons Vladimir Tumayev "White moss" and Valeria Gai Germanicus "Yes and Yes". At the festival there will be competitions of paintings and a short documentary.
Chairman of the jury will be Gleb Panfilov. At the ceremony, the Director instructed the honorary award for contribution to world cinema.
The festival will last until 28 June.
Nikita Mikhalkov said that his work was represented by 61 countries will be shown a total of 397 feature films that originally were submitted to the contest 1144 thousand pictures.
