Kadykchan is an abandoned village in Susumansk district of Magadan region. It is located on the highway Magadan – Ust – Nera. From the 2000s, Kadykchan is "a Ghost town".
A bit of history
Kadykchan originated in the great Patriotic War as a work settlement. The purpose of the village was coal mining. The mine and the village itself was built by prisoners. Coal mining was carried out underground at depths up to 400 meters. The settlement developed gradually, in stages, so it is customary to distinguish between Old, New and Latest Kadykchan. The road to Magadan – Ust – Nera closest is the Old Kadykchan. New built around the mine No. 10, and the Latest is a little way off the road and mine (about 2-4 km). Latest Kadykchan a major residential settlement.
In 1996 the mine explosion that claimed the lives of 6 people. After the explosion the mine was closed, people from the city were evicted, issuing for the relocation of 80 to 120 thousand rubles. Home canned by unplugging from electricity and heat. Private houses burned to the population are unable to return. However, in 2001, in the village all remained 2 residential streets (Lenin and Builders) and one house located on Peace street.
By 2010, the village has only two inhabitants. By 2012 there was only one elderly man and his two dogs.
Kadykchan today
The once lively village is empty today. Silence everywhere, broken only by the cries of crows Yes the creaking of roofing iron in the wind.
On the square in front of the cinema is shot by the residents bust VI Lenin.
Life, as if frozen overnight in this settlement: in the houses scattered throughout the book, things, kids toys, garages cars, in kindergartens scattered toys. Of course, time and looters were not spared these things, but the impression of mystery and charm have not gone anywhere.
